Go Marcus aka Marcus Linial was signed by Clive Davis back in 2001 to his brand-new record company J Records. His album “What R You Doing With Your Life”, which was produced by the number the one charting group PM. Dawn, featured the single Pop Musik which was played on
over 50 stations across America including Z100 in NY and Y100 in Miami.

At the time, Go Marcus was also being managed by Johnny Wright of Wright Entertainment Group (NSYNC, Brittany Spears, Janet Jackson). Only the single got released and after Go Marcus spent the summer of 2001 opening for Boy Band O-Town. He returned to NYC in August and one-month later 9/11 happened, his album was officially shelved by J Records. The album, which was mostly a pop/hip hop record, had one song on it that was a true reggae song called “Letcha Self Go”. Go Marcus recalls, “I had just finished recording what I thought was the final song for the
album but in the 9th inning I had an idea for a reggae track that I wrote with my good friend Jerome Korman called Letcha Self Go. I was so connected in the NYC reggae scene (Marcus was the owner of 3 venues in NYC, Reminisce Lounge, Shine and Canal Room) and so many local incredible reggae musicians that I decided I wanted to end the album with this song which was super fun, super positive and just an overall feel good song.”

It was the only song on the album that was recorded with a full live band. The band featured musicians such as JJ Sansaverino (Maxi Priest) on guitar, Noris Webb (Third World) on Keys, Junior Jazz (The Wailers, Inner Circle) on backup vocals, Was Droppa on Bass Guitar and reggae recording artist Red Fox on vocals.

Fast forward 19 years later, Marcus decided to reach out to his friend Adam Alpert (The Chainsmokers) of Sony Music who now owns all of J records releases. With Adams help, Legacy Recordings/ Sony Music offered to release the album after all these years. Marcus decided with everything going on in the world right now, it was not the right time for the album,
but he thought it’s a great time for a feel-good song like Letcha Self Go.

On Friday July 24th, 2020 the single will be released on all music platforms for the first time.
