Stephen Marley’s production team, Fruit of Life Productions once again teamed up with OneRise Entertainment to bring together the ultimate Music and Awareness experience.  Last year the inaugural Kaya Music and Awareness Fest led the way as a premier music festival that also served a dual purpose to educate attendees on the many uses of the cannabis plant including its superior medicinal properties. When the 2018 festival plans were released early in the year, it was announced that the 2nd annual Kaya Fest would once again be held in April; however, this time fans on the West Coast would get the benefit of an expanded two-day festival.  And for the 2nd year in a row, a free pubic symposium was held to educate the public and this time providing guidance on new laws in California; on January 1, 2018, California joined 8 other states in legalizing marijuana for recreational use.

In addition to the cannabis culture celebration and awareness aspect of the festival,  there were also two significant anniversaries to commemorate. The 2018 edition of Kaya Fest coincided with the 40th anniversary of Bob Marley and The Wailers Kaya album release as well as the anniversary of Bob Marley’s significant appearance  at the historic One Love Peace Concert in Kingston, Jamaica in April of 1978.
