It’s already the 2nd week of June and the summer Reggae Music season is off to a great start!   The Chronixx US “Capture Land” tour has swept through New England with capacity crowds at all the stops.  Stay tuned for a full report on Chronixx and the Zinc Fence Redemption at Iriving Plaza NYC on June 6, 2015.

Festival Spotlight  – 5th Annual Groovin in the Park NYC June 28th

The 5th annual staging of Groovin in the Park, New York City’s flagship Reggae Rhythm and Blues concert is just around the corner! 

Groovin in the Park 2015 takes place on Sunday, June 28th at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens.  Once again they have announced a stellar line up including outstanding Reggae artists Morgan HeritageLuciano, Capleton, Cocoa Tea, and Lt Stitchie. They will share the stage with R&B sensation Billy Ocean  and Grammy Award winning singer and songwriter Michael Bolton.   Veteran Jamaican Broadcaster Barry G will have the honor of hosting this year’s event.

Kabaka Pyramid and Iba Mahr have just announced they will be touring together this summer.  The Young Lions month long US tour kicks off in at the World Beat Center in San Diego on June 11th and winds its way across the US ending at SOBs in NYC on July 12th.  

NEW Video Spotlight

Alaine – Favorite Boy

The Official Video for Alaine’s latest single ‘”Favorite Boy”  on the Country Bus Riddim by Chimney Records has been released.  This is the first video from her new album “Ten of Hearts”  and is sure to capture your heart as well. 

Stephen Marley – Ghetto Boy

The official video for Stephen “Ragga” Marley’s new track “Ghetto Boy” featuring Jamaican dancehall stars Bounty Killer and Cobra. Directed by Shaun Escayg and shot in Jamaica, Stephen’s message aims to #BreakTheCycle and address gun violence with today’s youth.  (source:  Stephen Marley Youtube)

Jah Cure announces “The Cure” Album release date

A release date of July 10, 2015 has been announced for the highly anticipated release of Jah Cure’s 7th studio album, “The Cure”, which follows the release of his last album “World Cry” in 2012.    Earlier this year, Jah Cure signed a new deal with VP Records to release multiple albums, including the 2015 release of  “The Cure”. 

Jah Cure co-produced the entire album with the help of reggae producers like Christopher “Sketch” Carey, Clive Hunt, Llmar “Riff Raff” Brown, Justin “Jus Bus” Nation and Trevor “Baby G” Washington James. The Cure features recent hits like his #1 reggae chart-topping John Legend cover “All of Me” (which received over 5 million YouTube views), “Rasta” (currently #1 on Clinton Lindsay’s NY reggae singles chart), “That Girl” and “Life We Live” as well as brand new singles including “No Friend of Mine” “Made In California,”  “I Surrender” and many more.  (source: VP Records press release)

We have heard a sneak peak of the new album and we think you will love it!   

Jah Cure currently has tour dates slated for Europe this summer and makes a return appearance on the Welcome To JamRock Cruise this fall.
