On October 18th, 2011  Donisha Prendergast, granddaughter of Bob Marley screened her documentary film RasTa, A Soul’s Journey at Montreal’s Festival du Nouveau Cinema.  A  Rasta Live Montreal party hosted by Donisha Prendergast followed on October 19th at Montreal’s Jello Martini Lounge with a live tribute to Bob Marley by Errol Blackwood.  Photo Highlights from both events are displayed below.

RasTa is the story of the personal journey of Rita and Bob Marley’s granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast, into the world of Rastafari. Her exploration takes us to countries where her grandfather‟s captivating performances delivered the Rastafarian message. Her travels not only unveil the reach and inspiration of his music and message, but also the history and evolution of the Rastafarian movement.

―Rasta is a journey says Prendergast. ― It‘s a geographical, spiritual and emotional trod. 
The documentary boasts an exciting reggae soundtrack, featuring established, as well as emerging contemporary, reggae stars – they include: AlborosieBurning SpearDamian MarleyJacob MillerJah CureKing JassimMatisyahuMorgan HeritageNomadzRas Levi RootsTarrus RileyTurbulence and Donisha Prendergast herself. RasTa will have its World Premiere at TIFF (Toronto Int‟l Film Festival), September, 2011 — and will be presented at other major festivals: BerlinSundanceTribeccaPan African, and MIPDOC (Cannes). It will be released theatrically in the eight countries it was filmed: CanadaEthiopiaIsraelIndiaJamaicaSouth AfricaUK and USA, November 2011, with a 2nd tier rollout in EuropeAsia and The Caribbean, February 2012 – Black History Month for many and the year of Jamaica‟s 50th Anniversary. RasTa will premiere on Television in Canada‟s on CityTV, April 2012.
